Bryon Richardson, Executive Director
I must have had great teachers throughout my schooling because I have always wanted to work with youth as a career.
I grew up and graduated from high school in Brigham City, Utah. After high school, I lived in Germany for two years, then returned to my studies and graduated from the University of Utah in 1996 with a B.S. in Sociology and a Certificate in Criminology and Corrections. After a few years working with incarcerated youth, I realized the importance of education and the effect it can have on their lives and moved my young family to attend the University of Northern Colorado, where I graduated with my M.A. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies in 1999. Soon after graduation, I moved to Las Vegas to work at UNLV with economically disadvantaged high school students to get them ready for postsecondary education. Most recently, I have been a principal of a small charter school on the Northern Ute Indian Reservation in Northeast Utah.
Now, my family and I are back “home” in Las Vegas. After studying about and working in various educational settings, I am excited to be the Executive Director of the Leadership Academy of Nevada. LANV is what I envision the ideal educational setting to be: motivated students working with top mentors to increase both academic knowledge and leadership skills. I can’t wait to see the growth of our students and the men and women they will become!
Kim Green, Director of Academics
I love to read, and I carry at least one book with me everywhere I go. I believe the movie is never as good as the book. I devour historical fiction. My all-time favorite books are The Witch of Blackbird Pond, An American Tragedy, Native Son, and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. My favorite outdoor activity is scuba diving, and someday I plan to swim with sea turtles on the Galapagos Islands. That might be the one time I won’t have a book in my hand!
As far back as I can remember, there were three things I would do any chance I’d get- read and play house or school. It was natural for me to major in Literature in college, and I graduated from the University of Utah. I then moved back to Las Vegas, where I had grown up, to do my masters studies in Education at UNLV. I loved my years of teaching! However, I loved being a mom more and quit teaching to stay home and be a mom to my five awesome kids full time. Once they were nearly grown (and I was a grandma!), I started looking for the perfect job in the education field. From the moment I heard about LANV two years before its start, I knew I wanted to be on the team. I’m happy to say I now have my dream job!
Shelby Cefoldo, Director of Business
I was born and raised in Texas and married my HS sweetheart who joined the Air Force. We have been on that adventure ever since. I enjoy moving to new places and exploring the area. By far my favorite place has been Alaska.
I received my degree from University of Maryland University College in Business and Management. I stumbled onto non-profit/government accounting by chance, and I have been in the field ever since. I have a passion for problem-solving, and accounting is always an adventure.
I love spending time with my family and getting outdoors whenever we can. Curling up with a great book on the patio is another of my favorite things. Joining and watching LANV grow and develop has been a fantastic journey to participate in. I am excited to see LANV continue to do great things for Nevada kids.
